ABOUT MONIKER PRESS

Moniker Press is a small risograph print studio and publishing project that works collaboratively with artists to produce small editions of books, zines and print ephemera. Located in Vancouver, Canada on the unceded and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

ERICA WILK, PRINTER/PUBLISHER

Born and raised in amiskwaciy-wâskahikan, Treaty 6 territory (so-called Edmonton, Alberta), Erica Wilk (she/they) relocated to Vancouver to pursue her BFA at Emily Carr University (2011). At the studio she works in many mediums, from collage and bookmaking to video. Her first book project under the Moniker Press name was the Duality Experiment. Since then, Moniker Press has evolved from a small personal project to a solo-operated risograph print shop and publishing studio, which they use as a platform for collaboration and experimentation within her art practice.

Erica’s recent personal projects include tending, Cross Sea Hum 2nd Ed (Shortlisted for ‘Best Art Zine’ in the 2021 Broken Pencil Zine Awards), plants at night photo zine, as well as The Garden Pt 1 and 2, reading room installations for Vancouver Art Book Fair and Toronto Art Book Fair.

Moniker Press is a solo-run studio, with Erica serving as the primary owner, operator, printer, and publisher. However, the MP’s success and continued existence is deeply reliant on the invaluable contributions of numerous volunteers, collaborators, and supportive friends. Moniker Press is immensely grateful for the contributions and assistance provided by these individuals, whose involvement has been crucial to MP’s journey.

PRINT-FOR-HIRE
Moniker Press functions as a publishing project as well as a print-for-hire studio, offering risograph printing services to the general public. The printing work helps cover essential expenses such as rent, materials, food, and other living costs, ensuring the continued operation and sustainability of the studio. Thank you for your support.

For more detailed information about the risograph process, explore the Print Guide . If you’re seeking inspiration or examples of previous projects, the Print Log is good resource to browse. Additionally, there is a FAQS section that addresses commonly asked questions. To inquire about an estimate or project email Erica at: MonikerPressStudio@gmail.com

MOBILE MONIKER

Mobile Moniker is an ongoing travelling print project by Erica Wilk. Spring 2016, Moniker Press closed the studio for a six week adventure through Europe. The challenge: to experiment and collaborate with fellow riso printmakers while in transit (sending creations to subscribers via snail mail.) Since then the project has continued in Mexico City (for Rrreplica) and Eastern Canada.

Mobile Moniker will eventually become a browseable archive as well as a book project.
