PAPER

Paper choice can play a significant role in the price and final outcome of your project. While our in-studio paper stock is limited due to storage constraints, we are happy to source paper according to your specific requirements. Moniker Press generally invoices paper at-cost or with a very minimal mark-up and most of our stocked papers are ordered directly from a local family-owned supplier in our neighbourhood, whom we love to support. Risographs are compatible with uncoated paper stocks ranging from 20# text (75 gsm) to 65# cover (176 gsm). Our standard practice is to print orders on the maximum paper size of 11×17″ and trim them down to the final size. For instance, postcards or art prints are printed in multiples (2-up, 4-up, 8-up) on a tabloid sheet and then cut down accordingly. This approach helps minimize paper and stencil usage and allows us to provide you with more prints for less!

⚞ Note: Due to the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the supply chain, the paper and some supply industries have been experiencing delays and disruptions. This means that certain papers or binding supplies etc may be unavailable or have variations compared to previous batches. While we strive to stay informed and up-to-date on these situations, it’s not always possible to predict or control them. However, we will do our best to keep you informed and work with you to find suitable alternatives if needed.

TEXT WEIGHT

Standard thinner stock, ranging from 60-80# generally used for posters, prints, flyers, folded prints, inner pages of zines/books, etc. 20# Bond (think basic office copy paper) is the thinner variant which we sometimes use as an alternative to newsprint.

COVER WEIGHT

Coverweight comes in a range of of 65-110# but Moniker Press primarily uses 65# as heavier weights tend to jam our fickle riso. Cover is generally used for art prints, posters, greeting cards, business cards, covers of zines/books etc.
